9 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD DO A 5K

I was given the opportunity a couple days ago to run in a really big 5K. I honestly was really nervous because it's not my cross country season, so I assumed that I would do bad since I'm not in great shape. The reason that my family had not participated in this before was the fact that there were so many of us and it would be easy to get lost. Now that my brothers are a little older and they don't need strollers, we decided that it would be fun to try it out. One of my friends' mom told us that it was one of her favorite races and that we would love it. So, we tried it out.


My dad drove me around the race site hours before to show me the course. I told him that I was nervous. He assured me that he would be proud of me no matter how I placed or finished. That night, we got our t-shirts and I put on my matching socks and shorts. I was pumped up. I could already feel the adrenaline. We arrived early at the starting line so that we could talk to people and get used to the area. It was fun to see all of the people who had registered and all the people that I knew there!


Finally, the race began. The race winded throughout the streets and you could see people with signs cheering you on. There was bands playing as you ran by and there were so many people on the sidelines encouraging you. I almost forgot that I was running! The race went by so fast! At the end, the race finished by running into a football stadium. There, people were in the stands all cheering for you at the finish. It was one of the funnest races that I have done.




Here are the reasons that I have come up with if you haven't already decided to do a 5K based on my experience.

1. You get to hang out with other runners/walkers and friends

2. After, you feel like you have accomplished so much

3. It is an incredible experience that you won't forget

4. You keep in shape while having fun

5. Other people are cheering you on

6. You can make friends with others like you

7. You almost always get a medal

8. Think of it like a really fun workout

9. You can say that you now can run a 5k!
