But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. (Galatians 5:22-23)
During my morning bible study, I began to read about the fruit of the spirit. This bible verse consists of nine words that describes a characteristic of the holy spirit working in our daily lives. Over the next nine days, I want to talk about these characteristics and how they apply to my life. Today is joy. I have been blessed to experience so much joy in my life so far and I pray for those who don't have this privilege. I am raised in a loving, caring, large family with parents and siblings who support and guide me through life. They bring me a large amount of joy and happiness.
Now, people a lot of times get confused between the words joy and happy. Joy is a consistent feeling that comes from within when you are satisfied with who you are. On the other hand, happiness is a temporary feeling based on something external that could alter your mood such as people, events, and places.
For me, it's the little things that bring me joy. Usually, I find more joy in myself when I am helping others rather than helping myself. When someone smiles, laughs, or thanks you for what you've done, you realize what joy is. There is another way that we can get joy, and that's through Christ. When we surround ourselves with his presence, we find the true joy that no words can express. He loves us so much and only wants to talk and know you more. If you open your heart to him, you will experience true joy.
Remember: Live Simply, Laugh Often, Love Deeply
