Everyone gets into arguments. Whether if it was with your siblings or that student that sits next to you, you always leave feeling frustrated, angry, and upset. Arguments are caused when two or more different people disagree on something. Because everyone has his or her own opinion, disagreements are unavoidable. Most times, it is on the silliest of things, like which football player is better! By the end of it, we forget what the disagreement was even about, but we are still mad at each other. I sometimes struggle with this because I like to prove that I have the correct facts. I realize now, looking back on all of the disagreements, that they were useless and it only made the arguers mad.
Whenever we feel strongly about something, we should share our opinion, but it should not turn into an argument. We should recognize that everyone has their own opinion and respect that. Let me remind you that arguments are made up of 2 people. That means that you have to argue back. There are ways that you can avoid an argument and still keep the peace.
We all want peace. No one like to feel in a conflict or angry. We can never find true peace through tangible things, though. Jesus is our true peace. We feel safe and calm, and only He can provide that for us. We must look to Jesus for our peace, because he is the only one who can provide it.
"For [Christ] himself is our peace, who has made [Jews and Gentiles] both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility . . . that he might create in himself one new humanity in the place of the two, so making peace, and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby bringing hostility to an end."
